Black Dog Ride to the Apple Isle

By Karen Marr

I was introduced to the Black Dog Ride in 2015 when we rode to Uluru in an effort to increase awareness of suicide and depression.

This ride was an eye opener to me as there were so many on the ride whom were suffering and had suffered, yet put aside themselves to undertake the task at hand, to increase awareness in the remote areas of Australia. The support from riders reflected a family environment.

From this ride not only did my awareness shift but information about the cause and why support it. Contributions of the monies raised from these rides goes to Lifeline with the aim to have more phones monitored by professionals whom can assist those who call, whether they are suffering or need advice.

Help us spread the word of awareness and assist with increasing the lines of professionals being readily available to assist, whilst over 300 riders from around Australia ride our little hearts out to the Apple Isle, Tasmania to do the same.
