Dave's BDR 2018 Mini Ride

By Dave Schafer

Well, it's happening again this year...not being able to do the whole ride is becoming an annoying habit...so it's a mini ride again this time around. The actual ride length is still not locked in for my part of the ride, but here's what it could possibly, maybe, if the god's are smiling, look like...because of work, I'll be doing a catch up day on the Sunday, after the Qld riders leave on the Saturday Morning...I'll be hoping to catch them up somewhere around Rocky...then it's on to Mackay and Charters Towers...then a left turn toward Emerald for me, while the BDR Top End riders continue on toward Mt Isa...man, I wish I was going all the way with them...such a lot of good is done on these rides.

Each year I put this up, and each year I'm over whelmed by the support you all give for this cause...Black Dog Ride is not raising money on behalf of other charities; it is raising awareness of a major health issue affecting over a million Australians, raising the profile of local mental health services and projects, raising funds to continue the work Black Dog Ride achieves in the community, supporting local mental health organisations to assist with their service delivery and fostering social inclusion through new networks and friendships with likeminded people.

100% of funds raised during rides are directed to local mental health projects or organisations. During 2016 alone, Black Dog Ride gifted funds to Lifeline Australia, Mental Health First Aid Australia, 21 local Lifeline Centres, 2 Headspace Centres, 3 local mental health organisations and 1 local mental health project. 2017's number are better still...

If you feel so inclined to donate some dollars to this particular cause, I'll be eternally grateful...
