In July 2016, Petty Officer Sean Blacklock of the Royal Australian Navy along with a small team of military and ex military personnel, will be crossing the Simpson Desert on motorcycles to raise awareness of suicide prevention amongst their ADF colleagues. Around half of those in the ADF who tragically take their lives are RAN personnel, and by undertaking this arduous ride, Sean and his team aim to inspire both Naval and Defence personnel to reach out for support when in crisis.
Black Dog Ride will use funds raised on the Defence Tour De Dune to support it's nationwide suicide prevention projects, including funding training of personnel on HMAS Adelaide in Mental Health First Aid. This will arm Defence personnel with the tools to identify and respond appropriately to a mental health crisis amongst their colleagues. Please be generous for this vital cause!
