Hours to Go
From 28 October I'll be donating 2 weeks of my life in an effort to raise awareness of depression and suicide prevention, riding to Hobart with several hundred other riders... and a stuffed toy on my pillion seat.
It might surprise you to know just how effective that little black dog is at starting conversations with random strangers, and how many of them have a story of their own to tell.
I know it surprised me, and that's a large part of why I'm doing it again this year.
You can play a part by helping me to raise a few dollars to support Black Dog Ride's investments in mental health programmes Australia wide. There's no need to "give until it hurts" (although, that'd be awesome!) but, as I've discovered, sometimes it only takes the price of a cup of coffee to turn someone's day around.
Under the banner of "Even Heroes Need a Hand", donations to this year's ride will help fund scholarships for Defence and Emergency Workers to train in Mental Health First Aid. Click "Black Dog Ride - TAS 2017" at the top of this page to see how we're doing.
Great things can be achieved through the modest contributions of many.
